PASADENA, Calif. (November 4, 2014) – The Tournament of Roses® Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2015 grant assistance program. In 2015, the total amount awarded to local charities will be $200,000 due to a contribution of additional funds from the Tournament of Roses Association. Since its inception in 1983, the Foundation has invested over $2.5 million in more than 170 Pasadena-area organizations. Grants typically range from $1,000 up to $10,000 per organization. The grant awards in 2014 totaled $100,000, and the average grant was $3,500.

Eligible applicants are organizations with 501(c)(3) status that are based in and serving one or more of the following communities: Alhambra, Altadena, Arcadia, La Cañada Flintridge, Monrovia, Pasadena, San Gabriel, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena. Grants will be given in the categories of performing and visual arts, sports and recreation, and volunteer motivation and leadership development. Twenty-eight organizations received grants last year including these six first-time recipients: Alhambra Educational Foundation, Don Benito PTA, Friends Western School, Impact Basketball, Inc., MUSE/IQUE and The Hillside School and Learning Center.

To apply, eligible organizations should visit www.ctkodm.com/ptrf/. New applicants will need to enter "apply" for both the "username" and "password." Returning applicants will use their previously approved username and password. The website will then direct users to a welcome page with instructions on how to begin the application process. Applicants can find the official grant guidelines, a list of special stipulations and requirements, and a detailed list of frequently asked questions about the grants program on the Foundation’s website at tournamentofroses.com/about-foundation.

Applications will be accepted from November 4, 2014 until 5 p.m., January 29, 2015. All applicants will receive a status update the week of March 2, 2015. The 2015 finalists will be notified the week of March 2, 2015 and then must submit the required additional background materials by March 16, 2015. The Foundation’s Board of Directors will make the final grant selections at its annual spring meeting, and applicants will be notified of their funding status via email in April 2015.
