PASADENA, Calif. – The No. 1 BCS-ranked Florida State Seminoles and No. 2 BCS-ranked Auburn Tigers have earned berths to play in the 2014 VIZIO BCS National Championship at 4:30 p.m. PT (7:30 p.m. ET) on Monday, January 6, 2014, at the Rose Bowl Stadium.

“The Tournament of Roses is pleased to host the top two teams in college football to play in 16th and final BCS National Championship,” Tournament of Roses President Scott Jenkins said. “We look forward to a terrific matchup between Auburn and Florida State and congratulate both teams on an amazing season.”

Auburn completed the year with a 12-1 overall record (7-1 in conference). The Tigers beat Missouri, 59-42, to win the SEC Conference Championship. They are making their second appearance in the BCS National Championship, with their only previous appearance being in 2010 when they defeated the Oregon Ducks, 22-19. Auburn is 1-0 in BCS National Championship appearances.

Florida State finished out the regular season as the only undefeated FBS team at 13-0, (8-0 in conference) and defeated the Duke Blue Devils in the ACC Championship Game. The Seminoles are making their fourth appearance in the BCS National Championship with their last three being consecutive appearances in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Florida State is 1-2 in its BCS National Championships.

January 6, will mark the 19th meeting all-time between the Tigers and Seminoles and first meeting in the BCS National Championship. Auburn leads the series, 13-4-1.

Pre-game festivities for the VIZIO BCS National Championship begin at 4:30 p.m. PT (7:30 p.m. ET) and include a musical performance of the Star-Spangled Banner by Grammy-award winning artist, John Legend. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN with Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Heather Cox and Tom Rinaldi calling the action.
