Access for Persons with Disabilities

The City of Pasadena and a volunteer group assist the Tournamnet with coordinating three street-level viewing areas along the Parade route that are reserved for people with disabilities and their guests.  Each person with a disability is allowed up to four guests.

At one of the three viewing areas there is also a section with audio description for visually impaired people and another section with sign interpreters. Tickets to the viewing areas are free. No seats are provided, so viewers need to bring their own chairs, cushions, stools, etc.

Marching Band
Magnificent Rose Parade Bands

Available space is generally filled by December 8. Beginning October 1, application forms for viewing space can be requested by calling a voice mail box at (626) 744-ROSE (744-7673) or by sending an e-mail to rgorski@cityofpasadena.net.

Basic information about the viewing areas is available at any time by contacting Robert Gorski, Accessibility Issues Coordinator, City of Pasadena, at 626-744-4782 or at rgorski@cityofpasadena.net.

Tickets for limited wheelchair accessible seating at grandstand locations are sold through Sharp Seating.

Braille Program Guide

Persons with a visual impairment can obtain a special version of the Rose Parade program guide. Since 1999, the Braille Institute has provided large print editions of the Rose Parade program. Each book contains detailed descriptions of each float, band and equestrian unit in the order of march, helping readers create vivid mental images.

Six to seven thousand copies are sent to adults and children throughout the world who subscribe to the Braille Institute's brailled publications. They are also available during the Parade at the audio description viewing section on Colorado Blvd., as well as at the Post Parade Showcase of Floats. A special 4-track recorded version of the Rose Parade highlights is also available on cassette.

If you would like to receive the braille Rose Parade Program, or the 4 track recording of the Rose Parade highlights, copies may be mailed free of charge to anywhere in the U.S. by calling 1-800-BRAILLE.

Special Viewing at Post Parade: A Showcase of Floats
