GARY J. DISANO ELECTED PRESIDENT OF 2010 TOURNAMENT OF ROSES®
DiSano Announces 2010: A Cut Above the Rest as Theme for 2010 Rose Parade®
PASADENA, Calif. (January 22, 2009) In a ceremony today, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association’s Board of Directors confirmed Gary J. DiSano as President for the 2009-2010 Tournament year. DiSano will provide leadership for the 121st Rose Parade and the 96th Rose Bowl Game® on Friday, January 1, 2010.
President DiSano revealed 2010: A Cut Above the Rest as the theme for the 121st Rose Parade. "I chose 2010: A Cut Above the Rest as the theme for the 2010 Rose Parade because the Tournament strives to put a Parade and Game together every year, that are better than the last," says DiSano. "With millions of spectators in person and on television on January first, we feel that America and the world look to Pasadena every New Year’s Day to bring them a celebration better than any other. 2010 will be a unique year with the hosting of the Citi BCS National Championship Game in addition to our annual Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game and we are excited to have all eyes on Pasadena once again."
Gary DiSano has been a volunteer member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association since 1972 and was elected to the Executive Committee in 2002. Throughout his extensive Tournament career, DiSano has served on and chaired various committees, including Community Relations, Formation Area, Football, Float Entries, Special Events and Tournament Entries, among others.
Aside from his many years of service with the Tournament of Roses, DiSano has been actively involved with numerous community organizations. He served as the Planning Commissioner for the city of Newport Beach, Calif., and was a member of the Environmental Quality Affairs Committee. He is currently a member of the Economic Development Committee of Newport Beach, a Trojan Club Commerce Associate and a USC Cardinal and Gold life member. Professionally, DiSano is the Director of Heavy Duty Purchasing for Century Wheel and Rim in Montebello, Calif., and RGGL Corporation in Newport Beach.
DiSano was born in Los Angeles and attended La Salle High School in Pasadena. He earned a degree in marketing from the University of Southern California and completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.
