Roy and Dale had a number of Rose Parade experiences before being named co-Grand Marshals, as they had ridden on horseback and on floats in past Parades. The first husband and wife team to serve in the role, the King of the Cowboys and Queen of the West were representative of that year's theme "The Good Life."
