BCS National Championship Game in 2014
Changed to Monday, January 6
Was Originally Scheduled for Tuesday, January 7
Bill Hancock, Executive Director of the BCS Group, announced today that the VIZIO BCS National Championship Game for 2014 has been moved to Monday, January 6. The game, to be played at the Rose Bowl Stadium, had originally been scheduled for Tuesday, January 7.
“Moving the game closer to the weekend makes it a little more fan-friendly in terms of travel,” said Hancock. “Plus, although the National Championship Game always enjoys blockbuster television ratings, moving it to Monday night may provide even more people a chance to watch the game.”
Hancock also noted that under the new playoff structure that begins in the 2014-2015 season, all championship games will take place on a Monday night. "This change also gives us a head start as we establish Monday night as championship game night under the college football playoff."
All BCS games will be available on ESPN and ESPN Radio.
