2011 ROSE PARADE® EQUESTRIANS

 

22 High-stepping Units to Stride Along Five-and-a-half-mile Parade Route

 

PASADENA, Calif. (August 10, 2010) – The Pasadena Tournament of Roses released today the names of the 22 equestrian units to grace Colorado Boulevard in the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade. “The units selected to ride in the 122nd Rose Parade are all spirited and unique and will be a great representation of the 2011 theme, Building Dreams, Friendships & Memories,” said Tournament of Roses President Jeff Throop. “Ever since the Tournament of Roses was first staged in 1890 with flower-decorated carriages, horses have been an integral part of America’s New Year Celebration® and we look forward to their continued return in 2011.”

Out of 39 total applicants, the Tournament’s Equestrian committee selected 22 units that amount to approximately 308 participants and 236 horses. The 2011 Rose Parade Equestrian Units are:

  • California State Firefighters’ Association
  • Cowgirls Historical Foundation
  • Equine Extremist with Tommie Turvey
  • Giddy Up Gals Drill Team
  • Kern County Sheriffs Mounted Posse
  • Long Beach Mounted Police
  • Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament
  • New Buffalo Soldiers
  • Region One Arabians
  • Saving America's Mustangs Foundation
  • Scripps Miramar Saddlebreds
  • Southern California Peruvian Paso Horse Club
  • Spirit of the West Riders
  • The Shire Riders
  • United States Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard
  • Valley Hunt Club
  • Victorian Roses Ladies Riding Society

About the Pasadena Tournament of Roses®
The Pasadena Tournament of Roses is a volunteer organization that annually hosts the Rose Parade®, Rose Bowl Game® and various associated events. The 122nd Rose Parade, themed Building Dreams, Friendships & Memories, will take place Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at 8 a.m. (PST) featuring majestic floral floats, high-stepping equestrian units and spirited marching bands. Following the Rose Parade, the 97th Rose Bowl Game will kick off at 2:10 p.m. and feature an exciting match-up between two of the top collegiate football teams in the nation.
