TOURNAMENT OF ROSES FOUNDATION GIVES $100,000
TO LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

Grants Benefit 20 San Gabriel Valley Agencies

PASADENA, Calif. (May 13, 2010) – Tournament of Roses Foundation President Wellington Chen distributed grant checks totaling more than $100,000 to 20 civic, educational and cultural organizations in the San Gabriel Valley at the Tournament of Roses Foundation Grant Award Reception held May 11 at Tournament House. Four of the 20 organizations funded are first-time grant recipients. These organizations are Pasadena Education Network (PEN), Pasadena Summer Youth Chamber Orchestra, South Pasadena Educational Foundation and The Academy of Music for the Blind.

Established in 1983, the Tournament of Roses Foundation is a non-profit corporation that manages charitable contributions on behalf of the Tournament of Roses. The Foundation supports charities in the Pasadena area by funding sports and recreation, visual and performing arts, and volunteer motivation and leadership development. The awards ranged from $1,900 to $8,400. These grants will help support new and ongoing programs benefiting children, teens, adults and seniors.

Pasadena City College Foundation Event tickets & transportation for a performance of “In the Heights” for 100 high school students from the Upward Bound programs”
 
Pasadena Education Network (PEN) Purchase of language interpretation system and use of English to Spanish material translation
 
Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce Foundation Operation Santa Claus
 
Pasadena Museum of History Speaker honorariums and program materials for the Volunteer Program
