BAND DESCRIPTION: 315 total, 32 leaders, 1 drum majors, 251 brass, 31 percussion, 32 woodwinds. The University of Wisconsin Band was founded in 1885 with eleven members. Prof. Michael Leckrone, current Director of the Marching Band and Director of Bands, is in his 44th year at the University of Wisconsin.

The University of Wisconsin Band was founded in 1885 with eleven members. The band today features 315 musicians in the 2013 Rose Parade. The band annually appears before thousands at Camp Randall Stadium and millions via national television, and has traveled extensively from coast to coast. Well known for their engaging "Fifth Quarter" post-game presentations, the band performs an extra twenty minutes for over 30,000 Badger faithful, win or lose. The band was proclaimed the "Pride of Wisconsin" by a special legislative citation and will end this special season with their annual Spring Concert, which plays for 30,000 fans over three nights in April. The Director of the Wisconsin Band is Professor Michael Leckrone (LE-krone), now in his 43rd year, and the Assistant Director is Dr. Justin Stolarik (STAHL-er-ick).
